The well known garage proprietor and Vintage Vehicle restorer Colin Pitt has passed away on Thursday 14th September 2023 at the age of 88.
Colin will be forever remembered for his immaculate red and green wagons which he lovingly restored. His own favourite wagon which was his pride and joy was a 1950 Seddon 5L, he named June (after his wife). At the height of his restorations, Colin produced a fleet of professionally restored red and green wagons which were affectionately known as the ‘Magnificent Seven’ and featured in a professional video as well as in various wagon books and magazines. |
He was the main sponsor of the Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza for over 20 years and did not only just help to store the equipment for the event, but contributed by paying the rent for the fields, transporting equipment down to the event and coming to help on the day. Had it not been for his help and support with the O.V.T.E. it would not have gone on so long and raised so much money for deserving causes.
Colin was a Yorkshireman born and bred with his flat cap. He called a spade a spade and was always there to help people. Whenever there was a problem he would often step in and offer advice and went to peoples’ aid with their broken down vehicles on many an occasion. He will long be remembered by many people near and far.
Colin Pitt's Leeds Road Garage business closed in June 2019 when Colin decided to retire after over 60 years in the motor industry.
